   BookBrowse Showcase Information

Low Cost Book Promotion
for Authors & Independent Publishers

Advertise on 600,000+ pages
to 200,000+ book lovers
for just $198

BookBrowse Showcase Summary

A very low cost, high impact vehicle for advertising your book, product or service to BookBrowse's audience of avid readers and book lovers, offering:

  • Exceptional value for money: We undercut our own advertising rates by more than 60% to offer the Showcase to you at such low rates.

You pay just $198 (US) for a month of advertising, plus a one-time $49 setup fee.

  • During the month your ad will be shown across at least 600,000 pages.

  • We only count pages viewed by real humans! Unlike many, we don't include the search engine spiders that constantly crawl the web updating search engines such as Google or Yahoo in our stats. If we did the monthly page view stats would be inflated by about 50%! Please take this into account when comparing our already exceptional value to other websites that may not exclude automated traffic such as spiders!

  • Click here to see a screen capture of a typical page showing the Showcase block that displays across at least 600,000 pages per month (page will open in a new window). Your ad in this block can either link directly to your end destination or can link to the internal Showcase page with more information about your book or product.

Note: During August-September 2008 we are unable to run the Showcase because we are sold out of all ad space and must give priority to our regular advertisers. This is why, if you're visiting during this period, you won't find the Showcase on our pages! To see what it looks like when it is running click here.

  • 7 out of 10 publishers/authors who booked one month in the BookBrowse Showcase return to book additional months - which, because there is no setup fee, cost just $198/month

  • We have very limited availability. Occasionally we have room for 8 Showcase advertisers in a month, but usually we only have room for 4 - so please do book early.

  • You will be able to track the number of pages your ad has been shown on in real time at anytime you like via login/password, so that you know you're getting what you've paid for, and we'll send you a summary report at the end of the campaign.

  • BookBrowse offers a highly targeted audience:

91% of visitors are college educated, 75% are aged between 35-64 and 86% live in the USA. Of course, they are also avid readers (81% read 3+ books each month and 28% read 6+) and buyers of books (89% buy at least one book a month and 45% buy 3 or more).

Many also influence other people's reading and purchasing habits: 42% are active book club members and 13% are librarians and booksellers.

You'll find a chart showing what they read by genre below.

"After spending over $100,000 promoting my bestselling YA novel, Paraworld Zero, I can confidently say that my little ad on BookBrowse.com sent more people to www.ParaWorlds.com than any other advertisement, including my extensive ads in Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal, The Bloomsbury Review, ForeWord Magazine, and even The New York Times Book Review. I highly recommend BookBrowse.com."
- Matthew Peterson, award-winning author of the Parallel Worlds series.

Details

There are two parts to the BookBrowse Showcase; you get both for just $198 per month (plus a one-time setup fee of $49).

  1. Display Advertisement:
    • Your ad will run in the left or right border of BookBrowse in rotation with 3 other advertisements for at least 600,000 page views during a given month - so that, on most pages, your ad will be seen on each page view at least once. Click here to view a screen capture of a typical page (opens in a new window)
    • When visitors click your ad they will jump straight through to the end destination you choose (e.g. your website, a bookseller, or to more information on the internal Showcase page at BookBrowse).
    • The position of the Showcase block is not guaranteed but will usually be about mid-way down the left or right hand border.
    • If you do not have the ability to make an ad we can design a simple ad based on your book jacket image at no extra cost (that you're free to use elsewhere if you wish). Alternatively, you can design your own ad and send it to us (ads must be single frames, sized to 150x150 px).

  2. BookBrowse Showcase:
    • You also get a 275 pixel wide by 200 pixel high advertisement in the BookBrowse Showcase to more fully describe your book or product. Click here to open the current 'Showcase' page).
    • You can either send us your book jacket image and a short text description and we will create a listing for you, or you can send us an ad that fits the space.

To get started, just fill out the quick and easy order form and we'll do the rest for you.

Benefits of the Internet vs. Traditional Media

Traditional media, such as magazines and newspapers, sell advertising on the basis of 'opportunities to see'. For example, if a newspaper sells 100,000 copies and believes that on average each of these copies is read by 2 people, it will claim your ad has the opportunity to be seen by 200,000 people. However, having the opportunity to see is very different to actually seeing. The majority of readers are unlikely even to turn to the page where your ad is displayed, let alone take note of it!

In contrast, BookBrowse delivers actual ad views. When our ad server records an ad view it is because a real live human is looking at the page displaying your ad. In fact, because most ISPs cache (store) pages on their own servers and serve them to their customers multiple times before refreshing, your ad will most likely be seen by more people than the ad server records.

Notes and Restrictions

BookBrowse reserves the right to refuse any advertisement that we consider unsuitable for BookBrowse's general audience, including books/products with an overtly sexual/pornographic nature. If we are unable to run your ad, your payment will be refunded less a $10 handling fee (to cover the cost of processing and refunding the credit card transaction). If you are in any doubt whether your book, product or service is suitable for BookBrowse please email us before placing your order.

Page views are estimates only and cannot be guaranteed. Having said that, BookBrowse usually serves around 1.5 million page views/month so it is unlikely that we will fall short of delivering you 600,000 ad views - and to date have always over-delivered by a significant factor.
